How We Plan to Spend the Next Year 'Adventuring'
We have 7 weeks to be out of our house. Here's our plan.
Pieces are starting to fall into place.
Just 5 days after writing about the unexpected news that our landlord was selling the house, we were hand delivered an eviction notice.
The new owners want to move in and the clock started.
We have to be out by August 31 in 7 weeks.
Let the adventure begin.
I’m not going to lie, adrenaline shakes and tears were my first response to the news that we had to move.
But I’ve spent hours self coaching my brain, problem solving and exploring what comes next.
So in today’s Freedom Diary entry, I’m going to share what we’ve got planned for the next year!
The Clock Is Ticking
When you are told you need to find a new place to live, that’s usually what your brain works to solve - finding a new place to live.
But… did it really make sense to get into a new rental, paying $3500/month + just to go travel?
Not really.
So, we’re not finding a new house. We’re releasing our attachment to having a home base and leaning into the vision of “home” being wherever the four of us are.
We have begun to sell off most of our furniture and embrace minimalism with the outrageous goal to fit our life into a 10x10 foot storage locker. 🤣
I’m excited to learn what material things I truly need and how much of what we own is just “stuff”.
In the purge process, it’s quite a clear YES or NO on whether we keep something when I ask myself, “Would I PAY to store this?”.
Obviously our home gym is making the cut to stay, along with our beds, my desk, our really awesome couch and a few night stands.
Aside from our clothes, a trunk of kids toys and a box of kitchen stuff, everything else goes.
The Adventure Begins
Once we walk out the front door of our home for the last time, we board a ferry and head to Vancouver Island where we are spending a month in a cute house that is 50m from the beach.
We return home at the end of September and face our second hurdle - I have a scheduled surgery set for October 1st that was booked and deposit paid before we found out the house was being sold. (I’ll share more on an upcoming Becoming Limitless Podcast episode)
Yikes. This will look like 6 weeks of recovery and while it’ll be a long road, I’m so thankful that we didn’t have to pack up our life and move while healing.
During the first week post-op, we are staying with my parents for a week, then we land in this really cute AirBNB for 3 weeks that is only 2 minutes from where we live right now.
For November and December, we had the most fun scenario present itself!
One of my past clients has a private AirBNB that is PERFECT for our stay for the rest of the year. We already do playdates with her and her son, so this was such a fun opportunity.
Headed Into 2025…
We may stay with my parents for a couple of days in January again and then we are off on the next phase of adventure - 3 months in the Dominican Republic.
Currently, we are planning for 3 weeks in Cabarete, a health focussed surf town, and then travelling along the northeast coast of the country for the next 10 weeks, hitting Samana and ending in Punta Cana.
When we come home in early April, we have left everything entirely up to the universe.
If we are tired of living out of a suitcase, we’ll settle down.
OR…
We find a local AirBNB for a few months before a possible Europe trip in the Fall.
We’ve even toyed with the idea of spending the summer house sitting through a website like Trusted Housesitters or House Sitters Canada, which would allow us to travel British Columbia and stay for free!
Like I said, the year ahead is FULL of adventure.
Final Thoughts
In the meantime, I’ll be sharing journal entries like this, breakdowns of how we created financial independence and all of the travel adventures.
I’m excited to have you along for the ride.
